My Idea of a Marathon

I plan on spending all Sunday watching Anthony Bourdain No Reservations on the Travel Channel I have recorded on my new DVR I after checking out TV By Direct at TV By Direct. I adore this show and the host is just great. A lot of my friends find him arrogant or smug, but I find him to be intelligent and humorous. He travels all over the world exploring exotic cuisine. The show focuses on the dishes that generations of locals have perfected. It’s never about the tourists beaten path, but the culture and the people who make up each and every country. After browsing my recorded list, I see that I have one episode from Brazil. My family and I are traveling to Brazil in a month and I have intention of indulging myself on the cuisine, culture and tropical paradise. Maybe I will learn of a few places or dishes I must visit or try while I’m there. I certainly want to pick up how to travel like a local and not like a tourist! I think Anthony Bourdain No Reservations offers valuable lessons on how to do just that. You live a charmed sort of life Mr. Bourdain!

The current WWE audience by age looks like this – 22% is between the ages of 2-17, 23% is between the ages of 18-34, 26% is between the ages of 35-49 and 30% is age 50 or older


Bob's Opinion: So if the lowest percentage is on the kids, then why is RAW still PG?

Update On Triple H's Return To RAW

Triple H is also being advertised for the March 12th RAW Supershow from Cleveland, the same show that The Rock is scheduled for. Triple H will likely be appearing on RAW regularly until WrestleMania beginning next week for the John Laurinaitis angle.


As noted before, Triple H vs. The Undertaker is tentatively scheduled for WrestleMania.

Hulk Hogan Says He Almost Joined Metallica

Hulk Hogan claims he almost joined an early version of Metallica and that he used to be good friends with drummer Lars Ulrich during his days as a session musician.

"I used to be a session musician before I was a wrestler," he said. "I played bass guitar. I was big pals with Lars Ulrich and he asked me if I wanted to play bass with Metallica in their early days but it didn't work out."


He added that he was a big fan of The Stone Roses and he used to play them during his workout sessions. He added, "I love the Stone Roses. They're getting back together, right? That's cool man. I used to work out to some of their songs."


Finally, he mentioned the band Kasabian and said, "I heard about these guys. They have made a show about UK wrestling in the '80s, called 'Walk Like A Panther'. I know Rollerball Rocco, he's in it. He's my guy. I'll be his tag partner and sort them out for trashing hotel rooms under my name."


Bob's Opinion: Yeah, and he was offered to fly to the moon with Neil Armstrong...c'mon

Major Royal Rumble Swerve

There is said to be a major twist planned for the 30-man Royal Rumble match this year, based on the announced idea that every Superstar is eligible to be in the Rumble. This angle was also done to set up at least one planned storyline.


Bob's Opinion: I have to admit, the Rumble this year has me a bit curious and excited

People within TNA have been heavily praising Jeff Hardy in the sense that he's been clear-headed 100% of the time since returning and while he isn't the same in the ring due to injuries, it's like he is a different person.

It was reported a few weeks back that Ric Flair and the TNA crew watched the Four Horsemen WWE Hall of Fame vignette on RAW backstage at the Impact Wrestling tapings that night.


Triple H actually called Flair that day to tell him about the Horsemen induction but the TNA tapings were already over by the time the video aired on RAW. Flair was at a bar with some of the TNA crew watching the LSU vs. Alabama game when John Laurinaitis texted him to tell him when it would be airing. Flair was in tears as he watched the video with his co-workers. Flair was telling people how happy he was for the other Horsemen and vowed to be in attendance but noted that he knew he would hear something from TNA management about it.

Evan Bourne Screws Himself Over

Evan Bourne will be able to return to WWE TV on the March 19th RAW Supershow. Since Bourne is not going to be a major part of WrestleMania 28, he likely won't return until after that. It's still possible that Bourne may get a WrestleMania dark match spot but with his second suspension he has cost himself the two biggest paydays of the year – Royal Rumble and WrestleMania.

Mick Foley has been getting fans to tweet #FoleyForRoyalRumble in support of him getting a spot in this year's 30-man match. After Kurt Angle tweeted support to Foley, Foley wrote the following back:

More on the WWE Hall of Fame

WWE announced two names for the 2012 Hall of Fame last week to push ticket sales but are planning to take their time in announcing the other names.


Besides Edge, The Four Horsemen and Mil Mascaras, Yokozuna is also expected to be inducted.


Bob's Opinion: Regarding inductors, it was noted earlier that Triple H and Shawn Michaels may induct the Horsemen while JJ Dillon mentioned Triple H, Dusty Rhodes or Blackjack Mulligan as inductors, and Alberto Del Rio we noted is expected to induct his uncle Mil Mascaras. Christian is expected to induct Edge and while this isn't confirmed, The Rock may induct Yokozuna.

JJ Dillon Discusses Flair & Windham, Possible Inductors for the WWE HOF

Four Horsemen manager JJ Dillon was on the Busted Open Radio Show this week with Doug Mortman and Dave LaGreca. Dillon mentioned Triple H, Blackjack Mulligan and Dusty Rhodes as names who might induct the Horsemen into the WWE Hall of Fame this year from Miami. Here are a few more highlights from the show. Busted Open airs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 2-4 Eastern time on Sirius 94 and XM 208.


Why Windham was chosen for the WWE HOF over others:
"If you look at it from strictly a business standpoint, Barry was a behind the scenes agent at one time for the WWE for a number of years. His father Blackjack Mulligan is already in the WWE Hall of Fame. If you were picking out all the combinations of the Horsemen, the one that included Barry, I think other people would agree too, that was when we were at our absolute best."


Ric Flair showing up:
"You know when Shawn Michaels was inducted, Ric wasn't invited but he was there, he bought a ticket, was in the audience. He can kind of get away with things that other people cant. Who knows what's going to transpire in the next 60 days as far as Ric. But knowing him as I have for as long as I have, seeing him there would not shock me. Whether it's in an informal status or whatever it is, it would be good to see him, and if it ends up being just Arn, Tully, and myself, and I think Barry because of his health issues is a question mark at this point. Whatever it is, it is still an incredible honor. It's a very humbling thing and the pinnacle of my career. It validates everything that I accomplished in 40 years, spanning five decades in the wrestling profession."

Bob's Opinion: I never did understand the need for JJ Dillon when all of the Horsemen could cut the best promos out there.

Who Will Induct The Horsemen?

It was rumored at last night's Raw SuperShow in Anaheim, California that Shawn Michaels and Triple H would together induct The Four Horsemen—Arn Anderson, Barry Windham, JJ Dillon, Ric Flair and Tully Blanchard—into the WWE Hall of Fame. WWE's Executive Vice President of Talent lobbied for the Horsemen to be inducted into the Hall.


Bob's Opinion: Sorry, but who are HHH and HBK to the Horsemen? How about being inducted by Dusty Rhodes and Magnum TA?

Liam Neeson Denies Rumor That He Will Play Vince McMahon In Chris Benoit Movie

Actor Liam Neeson was asked during the press junket for The Grey about a rumor that he's in talks to portray Vince McMahon in the upcoming Chris Benoit biopic Crossface.


The Grey director Joe Carnahan answered first, telling Neeson, "I can't see you doing that dude." Neeson added, "No, I never heard of [the movie]."


Neeson added that he has no interest in the role, largely because he knows very little about the WWE CEO, almost nothing about Benoit, and is not a fan of professional wrestling.


Crossface was announced last month. Casting is underway and production is set to begin this fall.

WWE announced the following on their corporate website this morning:


STAMFORD, Conn., January 17, 2012 – In accordance with its Talent Wellness Program, WWE (NYSE:WWE) has suspended Matthew Korklan (Evan Bourne®) for 60 days effective Tuesday, January 17 for his second violation of the company’s policy.

What Happened After RAW Went Off The Air (Cena Vs. Kane)

After RAW went off the air, John Cena came out to face Kane in the dark match.


Kane took control of the match early on. The match went to the outside of the ring where Cena threw Kane into the steel steps. Cena got Kane back into the ring and went for an AA, but dropped Kane. Kane then worked Cena's neck over and clotheslined him from the top rope. Kane went for a chokeslam, but Cena countered. After a series of counters, Kane brought a chair in the ring and got disqualified for hitting Cena in the gut.


Kane started to head to the back, but went back to the ring to deliver a tombstone. Cena countered with an AA and celebrated to end the show.


Bob's Opinion: That's building your monster up, letting thousands see him get beat

4 Names Confirmed For WWE Legends House

Dusty Rhodes, Roddy Piper and The Iron Sheik are all confirmed for WWE's "Legends House" reality show that will air on the WWE Network. "Mean" Gene Okerlund has also now been confirmed as a cast member. Okerlund was featured in the WWE Network hype video, specifically for the Legends House graphic.


The show is already in production and will feature 8-10 Legends living under one roof


Bob's Opinion: Another reality show (that I'm sure will be scripted as well) give me a break

More On Ole Anderson's Hatred Towards Vince McMahon

As I noted earlier here on the website, Mike Mooneyham of The Post & Courier spoke with original Four Horsemen member Ole Anderson this week about the group being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Here's some more of what Ole had to say:


"Vince McMahon hates my guts, and I don't like him. So that's all there is to it. To be a part of that, anyone with a brain knows who the first Four Horsemen were. It was me and Arn and Ric and Tully Blanchard, and J.J. Dillon was the manager. So if they don't know that, they don't know anything about wrestling anyway. So what's the difference?


"Vince McMahon is never going to call me. I hate his guts just like he hates mine. It's no big deal.


"I can't go anywhere anyway. I'm so screwed up from the multiple sclerosis. I'm in a wheelchair right now, and that thing kills me after a little while and then I have to lay down. That's my routine. How would I get there? By car? I couldn't do that. By airplane? I just couldn't get there.


"I told Vince McMahon to go (expletive deleted), and I wouldn't change my mind now."

Epico and Primo just won the WWE Tag Team Tiles at last night's WWE live event in Oakland, California.


The team beat Air Boom in a regular tag team match to with the belts.

Ric Flair Talks Horsemen Induction, TNA's Reaction

Mike Mooneyham of The Post And Courier has comments from Ric Flair about The Four Horsemen being inducted in the WWE Hall Of Fame.

"We're going to blow the roof off," said Flair.


Flair also revealed that he will only be able to speak for seven minutes, and that the TNA roster was watching the announcement when it aired.


"It's amazing," said Flair. "It's very cool. The whole TNA crew was watching the vignette. I started crying when they aired it."


Bob's Opinion: This is one that I WILL NOT miss

Ole Anderson Blasts Vince McMahon & HOF

Original Four Horsemen member Ole Anderson has criticized Vince McMahon and WWE about his exclusion from the Horsemen line-up in WWE's Hall of Fame announcement this week. Anderson's comments came in an interview with Mike Mooneyham.

"Vince McMahon hates my guts, and I don't like him. So that's all there is to it," Anderson said. "To be a part of that, anyone with a brain knows who the first Four Horsemen were. It was me and Arn and Ric and Tully Blanchard, and J.J. Dillon was the manager. So if they don't know that, they don't know anything about wrestling anyway. So what's the difference?"


Anderson said he couldn't make the Hall of Fame anyway due to his health.

WWE Signs Son of Actor and Musician Kris Kristofferson

WWE has signed independent wrestler Jody Kristofferson to a developmental deal. Jody is the son of actor and musician Kris Kristofferson.


Bob's opinion: Kristofferson impressed Triple H months ago at a tryout, even more when he found out who his father was, and word is that the deal has been in place for some time but WWE didn't want it getting out. Jody finished up with the APW promotion in California this weekend and will likely start with FCW in Tampa next month.

Angle Says WWE Wants Him Back

TNA star Kurt Angle says WWE is knocking on his door but he's sticking with TNA. When a fan asked Angle if he would be showing up at WWE's Royal Rumble, he replied:


"Nope! I'm Happy Where I Am. No Rumble for Me!!!! My Loyalty Is With Tna. Wwe Is Knocking On My Door, But I Won't Answer."


Earlier in the week, Angle told Jim Ross:


"You Will Call My Last Match. Somehow. Love You."


Angle also wished Jack Swagger much success in WWE, after making comments in the past about Swagger using the ankle lock.

Bob's Opinion: Kurt is probably the best in the business, but man he seems to be kinda "out there" sometimes

Update on Mr. Anderson

Mr. Anderson has been out of the TNA storylines because creative reportedly has nothing for him. Anderson hasn't appeared on Impact Wrestling since late November.

Bob's Opinion: Talk about your "waste of talent", this guy was so over and they can't find anything for him? Time to get different creative people in TNA
