Big Duke: The 6ft 7in shire horse that keeps getting bigger

He tends to thunder or rumble past rather than canter or trot.

But then, nothing Duke the shire horse does is subtle. He stands at just over 6ft 7in high at the withers, or shoulders - a world record - and weighs more than a ton.

Astonishingly, the five-year-old will continue to grow over the next couple of years, so he could yet put on another inch or two.

Duke - who in equestrian terms is a little over 19.3 hands - was rescued in 2006 when his former owner died suddenly.

He has since become a star attraction at The Horse Refuge in Tenterden, Kent, where his new owners have had to build a special large stable for him. He also needs custom-made rugs and collars.

Carer Sara Ross said: 'Visitors can't believe it when they see him. Some joke that he must be crossed with an elephant.

'Marley' stirs it up with record $14.75 mil Christmas

Twentieth Century Fox says "Marley & Me" has set a Christmas Day record with $14.75 million at the box office.

That breaks the previous mark of $10.2 million, set by "Ali" in 2001, according to Media By Numbers LLC.

And "Marley & Me" may not be alone: "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and "Bedtime Stories" were also expected to move past the previous Christmas Day mark, according to some studio estimates.

Even "Valkyrie" had a strong Yuletide opening with more than $8 million, those numbers show.

The Wrestler

I am very excited to see this film as everyone that has seen it, from critics to wrestlers themselves love it (aside from Vince Mcmahon who everyone figured would hate it)

Eartha Kitt, sultry 'Santa Baby' singer, dies

Eartha Kitt, a sultry singer, dancer and actress who rose from South Carolina cotton fields to become an international symbol of elegance and sensuality, has died, a family spokesman said. She was 81.

Andrew Freedman said Kitt, who was recently treated at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, died Thursday in Connecticut of colon cancer.

Kitt, a self-proclaimed "sex kitten" famous for her catlike purr, was one of America's most versatile performers, winning two Emmys and nabbing a third nomination. She also was nominated for several Tonys and two Grammys.

Her career spanned six decades, from her start as a dancer with the famed Katherine Dunham troupe to cabarets and acting and singing on stage, in movies and on television. She persevered through an unhappy childhood as a mixed-race daughter of the South and made headlines in the 1960s for denouncing the Vietnam War during a visit to the White House.

Through the years, Kitt remained a picture of vitality and attracted fans less than half her age even as she neared 80.

When her book "Rejuvenate," a guide to staying physically fit, was published in 2001, Kitt was featured on the cover in a long, curve-hugging black dress with a figure that some 20-year-old women would envy. Kitt also wrote three autobiographies.

Once dubbed the "most exciting woman in the world" by Orson Welles, she spent much of her life single, though brief romances with the rich and famous peppered her younger years.

Smashed Kurt Cobain guitar sold for $100,000

A smashed guitar from the late grunge rocker Kurt Cobain has been sold to an unidentified private collector for $100,000.

Helen Hall, a broker in England, says it's the second-highest known price for an item of Cobain memorabilia. The seller was punk rocker Sluggo of The Grannies and Hullabaloo.

The sale was confirmed Tuesday by Jacob McMurray, senior curator at the Experience Music Project in Seattle, where the taped-up Fender Mustang guitar in sunburst finish was displayed for a time.

"It's a really cool-looking guitar because it's smashed and held together with duct tape and Kurt Cobain wrote on it," McMurray said.

Sluggo said he traded a working guitar for the smashed one during the first U.S. tour of Cobain's band, Nirvana.

McMurray said Nirvana, living hand-to-mouth, was on a tour in New Jersey when Cobain smashed the guitar on stage and went looking for one to play at his next gig.

The swap was made while Cobain was staying at the apartment of Sluggo, who goes only by that name, and Sluggo's girlfriend, McMurray said.

He said he hoped the buyer would allow the instrument to return to Seattle for a Cobain exhibit he is preparing for 2010.

"There's not a huge amount of broken Nirvana guitars out there," McMurray said, adding that most amount to "little slivers and fragments."

A news release from Hall said the highest price paid for a piece of Cobain memorabilia was $131,000 at a 2006 auction for his Mosrite Gospel Mark IV guitar.

SoCal man killed by cops was 2004 murder suspect

A former child actor killed by police after a two-hour standoff as he held his 7-year-old son hostage in a restaurant was a suspect wanted for the 2004 murder of his girlfriend, authorities said Wednesday.

The boy was wounded.

The man killed was 38-year-old Manuel Benitez, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said in a statement. Police were searching for his mother, who may have been traveling with him.

Authorities had been seeking Benitez since the slaying of Stephanie Spears in Hawthorne more than four years ago. She had been beaten to death with a dumbbell.

Benitez had a son with Spears, named Benjamin, and the child had not been seen since Spears' death, according to Benitez' fugitive profile on the FBI Web site.

Benjamin suffered a gunshot wound to the thigh in Tuesday's standoff in suburban El Monte but was expected to survive, said sheriff's Lt. Liam Gallagher. He would not say who shot the boy.

Benitez was charged with murder and a California warrant was issued for his arrest in May 2005, the FBI Web site said. A federal warrant for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution was issued in March 2006. The FBI had offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.

El Monte police Detective Ralph Batres said the standoff began after an officer noticed a man take a boy off the sidewalk and head to a Chinese restaurant in a strip mall. Benitez ignored the officer's orders to stop and barricaded himself inside, Batres said.

Police said Benitez, who wore a camouflage jacket and had two handguns, held the boy hostage in a back room of the restaurant.

Gallagher said Benitez told police during negotiations that he was going to shoot police and harm the child.

Police closed nearby streets and shoppers were evacuated from neighboring stores as dozens of officers and emergency crews surrounded the restaurant.

Benitez was declared dead after police threw a flash-bang grenade into the restaurant and exchanged gunfire with him, Gallagher said.

The sheriff's statement said detectives were seeking the public's help in finding his mother, Elizabeth Velasco, who authorities believed may have been traveling with Benitez.

The FBI Web site said Benitez, who was featured on "America's Most Wanted" earlier this year, had been a child actor who used the name Mark Everett, one of several Benitez aliases listed in the sheriff's department statement.

As child actor Mark Everett, Benitez had small parts in the television shows "Highway to Heaven" and "Trapper John, MD," and the movies "Pee Wee's Big Adventure" and "Stand and Deliver," according to the FBI and The Internet Movie Database Web site.

The sheriff's statement said Benitez also went by the names Mike Evers and Manuel Velasco.

Merry Christmas!!

I want to wish the world a Merry Christmas. I wont wish you happy holidays, or festivus, or anything other then MERRY CHRISTMAS! Charlie Daniels put it into the right words much better then i can do when he wrote:

The Grinch People Are Back Again

We are soon celebrating a holy holiday called Christmas. That's spelled C-h-r-i-s-t mas and the first six letters in the name of the holiday should tip off any person with enough gray matter to tie their shoes that the day is about somebody or something called Christ.

Just as Thanksgiving is set aside to give thanks and Labor Day is set aside to pay tribute to working people, Christmas is set aside to celebrate the birthday of Christ Jesus and why that bothers some people so much is beyond my comprehension.

While they have no trouble with Santa Claus and the superficial paraphernalia surrounding the holiday, they scream, holler and almost become apoplectic when someone has the audacity to display a true symbol of Christmas in a public place.

The ACLU has expended thousands of man-hours for no other reason than to keep the symbols of this holiday out of public places, atheists have virtually bent over backwards to show their public disrespect for the day, and companies have forbidden their employees to say Merry Christmas to their customers for fear of offending the politically correct.

Now why is it that these people fight so hard against having this one season celebrated for its true meaning? What so offends them about the name of Christ?

May I state my humble opinion?

Jesus Christ, said, "I am the way, the truth and the life." Let's look at that statement.

He said "I am the way", and goes on to say that He is the only way, that there is no way for mankind to reach God except to go through Jesus.

Well in this day of multi-culturalism and political correctness, when New Age followers think themselves to be gods and goddesses and quaint eastern religions are considered to be chic and hip, if it feels good do it because all roads lead to the mountain top.

Anyway, it just doesn't sit well with these people for someone to declare the path to be so narrow that it has to come by way of the blood He shed and nothing else.

He said that He is the truth. Today truth has become subjective, graded on a curve and tailored to fit the situation at hand.

In this day of lying politicians, revisionist history and a media which slants the news in keeping with their political agenda, the truth can be hard to decipher, and for some harder to accept.

It's like Jack Nicholson said in the movie A Few Good Men, "You can't handle the truth!" and so it is with these people who are so terrified of a simple nativity scene. It represents the truth, and the truth would totally destroy the house of straw they're living in.

Jesus said, "I am the life." Jesus lived a life of service and sacrifice and in the end died the most horrible death any man has ever suffered.

His was a life of selfless love and He told us to take up our cross and follow Him. Evidently this doesn't suit the goals of the ACLU.

The Bible also says that Jesus is the light and brought light in the world but that man didn't want the light because it exposed their sin.

So why don't these people want these symbols of the birth of Christ in their sight? In my humble opinion, they don't want to be exposed to the light of truth and don't want anybody else to be exposed to it.

I suppose they think there's safety in numbers.

Actually these people are to be pitied and prayed for. They have been deceived by the father of all deceivers, and in this season of love and forgiveness it would be a righteous thing for all believers to pray that these people will be enlightened.

I write this acknowledging that I am a sinner and the only hope I have is in the one whose birth we honor during this season, Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God.

And my friends you will believe it too someday for every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

From all the ranch hands at Twin Pines Ranch, the office and management staff, the fan club folks, the pickers, roadies and drivers in the CDB organization I wish each and every one of you, not "Happy Holidays," not "Season's Greetings," not "Happy Kwanza" or a "Peaceful Solstice" but a very blessed and Merry Christmas, spelled C-h-r-i-s-t mas.

What do you think?

Pray for our troops

God Bless America

Is Michael Jackson Sick?

Ian Halperin, the author behind a new biography about Michael Jackson, is insisting that the fragile pop star is suffering from lung disease.

Halperin claims that Jackson is suffering from a condition known as Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, which is a potentially fatal genetic illness. Due to the condition, Jackson is reportedly losing vision in his left eye and has developed emphysema.

Halperin writes:

“He has had Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency for years, but it’s gotten worse. He needs a lung transplant but may be too weak to go through with it. He also has emphysema and chronic gastrointestinal bleeding, which his doctors have had a lot of trouble stopping. He can barely speak, the vision in his left eye has 95 per cent.

“For years Michael has been working with doctors to make sure it doesn’t progress. He has been on medications that have stabilized him.”

Although Fox News calls it BS and says “Everyone can relax. Michael Jackson is not suffering from any life threatening diseases.”

Court agrees to pay Spears' father $75/hour

A court has put a higher value on being Britney Spears' father this year: about $75 an hour.

For helping his daughter through her turbulent period, Jamie Spears on Monday was awarded an additional $51,000 payout, reflecting an increase in his monthly payments since he took over his 27-year-old daughter's affairs in February.

Jamie Spears had been receiving $10,000 a month for his work, but Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz increased that amount to approximately $16,000 per month and agreed to give him backpay.

He was also granted an additional $1,200 monthly payment so he can maintain an office, which Goetz said was justified by his work getting his daughter's personal life — and music career — back on track.

Janet Jackson is not pregnant, her longtime boyfriend says in his blog.

"So here you have it... no she is not pregnant and yes we're still together," Jermaine Dupri wrote in all capital letters on his blog, Global14.com.

Pregnancy rumors started swirling after the 42-year-old singer canceled a string of shows and then was featured on the cover of recent issue of Life & Style magazine with a photo of her and the headline, "Yes, I'm Pregnant."

"It baffles me how yall let these blog and magazines control your lifes [sic]," the 36-year-old wrote in a Dec. 18 post. "That's why I created global14.com so when ever hear s--- about me you can come right here and get the truth."

The Augusta,Kentucky 'White Christmas' parade debuts

Rains subsided and the bluster of winds which hammered the area were gone as hundreds of Augusta residents and visitors lined Main Street for the first Augusta "White Christmas" parade, Friday evening.

With little time to organize, the Augusta Rotary Club, the city of Augusta and benevolent individuals managed to bring a display of holiday spirit to the streets of this Ohio River city to rival a Hollywood production and in some cases, mimic a classic production.

To provide an accent for filming of bonus segments for the re-release of the Paramount Studio movie "White Christmas," organizers stressed an old fashioned Christmas theme and set the start time for the parade at 7 p.m. to accent the lights each float was asked to provide.

As cameras flashed and Christmas lights twinkled in the background, float after float meandered down Main Street on its way past the home of "White Christmas" movie treasures at Rosemary Clooney House Museum on Riverside Drive.

But the night was not all about a colorful parade; it was about family, fun and traditions from days gone by.

Near the firehouse there were people roasting chestnuts over an open fire, carolers from local churches sang and a firehouse teeming with the appetizing aromas of chili beckoned every passerby.

Throughout the evening a group of parishioners from another church greeted visitors at a living nativity scene and children and adults alike marveled at the out of the ordinary baby and miniature livestock at the petting zoo.

Children dressed and entered in an elf competition got surprised when it was announced all 12 contestants had won a new bicycle, compliments of several agencies, including the Bracken County Chamber of Commerce, officials said.

Horses, mules and the Augusta Independent School Marching Band added to the exhibition.

Floats were large, colorful and in many cases elaborate, filled with well wishers and celebrities.

Nick and Nina Clooney reigned as grand marshals and Nick worked the crowd as Nina greeted each parade display with a smile and wave of her hand. Nick Clooney's sister, the late Rosemary Clooney starred in the 1950s flick and once lived in the house which is now a museum in her honor.

Former Miss America and co-owner of the museum Heather French Henry and Rosemary Clooney's niece Mica Darley, wearing replica costumes from the movie, sang "Sisters" for the crowd which was followed by several traditional holiday songs performed by a quartet of Stephen Foster Singers complete in holiday attire of the 1800s.

Taylor and Harper Henry, Henry's young daughters rode with their mother and had been practicing singing for the parade the night before.

"They sang the "Sisters" song from the movie for Nick and Nina (Clooney) last night," Steve Henry said before the parade began.
Another Nick, St. Nick and Mrs. St. Nick brought up the rear of the parade, riding in one of several vintage automobiles which joined the procession.

Streets remained closed until 10 p.m. so visitors could visit the many shops in Augusta, where they could shop for everything from Rosemary Clooney House key chains to White Christmas Parade sweatshirts..

No charges for Garrett in incident with paparazzo

Prosecutors say Brad Garrett was provoked into pushing a paparazzo and charges won't be pressed.

The Emmy-winning actor was shown pushing a man with a video camera and challenging him to a fight in a video posted last month on celebrity gossip site TMZ.com. The photographer claimed Garrett broke his camera, but continued to hold it up as if he was still shooting.

The confrontation occurred outside a restaurant in West Hollywood. The former "Everybody Loves Raymond" actor, who more recently starred in the Fox sitcom "'Til Death," was not arrested.

A charge evaluation report released Friday by the Los Angeles County district attorney's office says the paparazzo used "hostile and derogatory language" to try to provoke a violent outburst.

The report states that the 48-year-old Garrett pushing the photographer amounted to minimal contact and "the interests of justice" do not support pursuing a misdemeanor battery charge.

J.Lo's Missing Rock Sparks Talk of Trouble

Jennifer Lopez has been famous long enough -- and married often enough -- to know that appearing at a high-profile event without her wedding ring is guaranteed to raise eyebrows.

But was her decision to hit the Los Angeles premiere of "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" last week sans her 8-carat sparkler an indication that cracks are forming in her four-year marriage to Marc Anthony, who was also without his wedding band as he partied in Las Vegas a few days earlier with Eva Longoria and Russell Crowe? Or was the excessively pouty-lipped star's cleavage-heavy, rock-free outing a calculated move designed to put her back on top of the tabloids?

Whatever the motivation, it worked, with Us Weekly declaring Lopez and Anthony's union at "a breaking point."

"Marriage in crisis: The ring is off!" cries the mag's current cover. "Marc's roving eye, fights over the twins ... How his creepy control drives her to tears."

"They both didn't wear their rings on purpose," maintains a source. "Nothing Jennifer does is without purpose."

Which might be why the behemoth bauble was back on Lopez's finger Tuesday night -- just ahead of the story's release -- as she stepped out with her hollow-cheeked hubby for a suspiciously romantic and well-documented dinner at Beverly Hills eatery Luau.

The couple, who welcomed twins Max and Emme in February (and introduced them to the world in an ostentatious People spread for which they reportedly received $6 million), fed each other Kobe meatballs and shared an order of tamarind-glazed ribs in between conspicuous bouts of nuzzling, report both E! News and People.

Jennifer and Marc "looked genuinely in love," an onlooker assures the magazine, while another eyewitness helpfully relays to E!, "They snuck in smooches throughout the night."

Simon Cowell Weighs in on the New Season of 'American Idol'

When all is said and done on the eighth season of "American Idol," will it be a guy or a gal who takes the title?

Simon Cowell predicts that the men will be stronger this year -- at least that is how he sees it right now.

"When you do the Hollywood week, which we did about a month ago, you get to see all the contestants for a second time," he says. "My memory of that was that the guys overall -- maybe five or six -- were just stronger and they stood out more than the girls. I've said this in the past. I've been wrong. Somebody like a Kelly Clarkson can emerge in the middle stages, which you are not expecting. Anything can happen."

Famous Ghosts part 3

Marilyn Monroe - This glamorous film star of the 1950’s slipped into a coma caused by an overdose of sleeping pills on August 4, 1962. She never woke up and was pronounced dead the next day. Today, her ghostly spirit is known to haunt the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. At the height of her popularity, she often stayed at the hotel where her image is seen in a full-length mirror that once hung in her poolside suite. It now hangs in the lobby where people see her image reflected in the glass. Her ghost has also been spotted hovering near her tomb at Westwood Memorial Cemetery in Los Angeles, California. Lastly, she is also said to haunt the house where she took the fatal dose of sleeping pills. According to psychics, Marilyn has relayed to them that her death was not a suicide, but an accident.

Ozzie Nelson – Band leader, Ozzie married Harriet in 1935. In 1944, they started The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet on radio which later switched to television in a run that would stretch to twenty-two years: eight on radio and fourteen on television. In 1941 the couple purchased a house where they lived for the next 40 years. When their popular sitcom was aired on television, beginning in 1852, the exterior of the television house was modeled on the real-life Nelson home. Subsequent owners believe that Ozzie’s ghost continues to remain in his beloved home, as unseen hands open and close doors, turn on faucets, and lights turn on and off by themselves in otherwise empty rooms. One owner even tells a story that “someone” got fresh with her during the night when her blankets were pulled back and she felt someone kissing her neck and breasts.

Elvis Presley – Just as flamboyant in death as he was in life, the legendary singer continues to haunt his beloved home in Memphis. A white-sequined Elvis has been seen by stagehands at the Las Vegas Hilton where he often performed in the early 1970s. He has also been “seen” in a rambling old building just off Nashville’s Music Row. Mendes Talks 'Terrible' Rumors

Mendes, 33, tiptoes around a question about her reported rehab stay earlier this year in the January issue of Allure.

"Ummmmm ... I'm not confirming or denying rehab," says the shapely looker, whose rep announced in February that she'd checked into Utah's Cirque Lodge "to proactively attend to some personal issues."

But when rumors of a "coke habit" are mentioned, Eva is quick to set the record straight.

"Well, that is completely false!" she maintains to the magazine. "Completely, completely, totally, totally false! There's a couple of things that have been printed -- so terrible! And it's still new to me."

Among those things is a purported rivalry with fellow Latina star Jennifer Lopez, which was touched off in 2005 after a British tabloid quoted Mendes as saying, "She manages her career like the head of a big corporation, whereas the only thing I care about is becoming the best actress possible."

Eva's ostensible snipe got a second wind when it was recycled on several blogs in October, but she insists to Allure, "I didn't say that! That is so awful. And I am not an idiot."

Then there was a story from September about how she allegedly went on a nationwide nookie spree in her youth, but all those cold showers the anecdote likely inspired were prompted by a piece of fiction.

"I supposedly told a reporter I had taken a crazy road trip when I was younger and had sex in all 50 states," explains Mendes. "The story went on to say what my favorite states to have sex in were [note: Arizona and Colorado -- you're welcome]. I found it so upsetting. Because I have a certain image out there. And I'm responsible for that image. And I stand by it. No apologies."

George Clooney, Matt Damon, and Other Celebs Speak Out Against SAG Strike

Some of Hollywood's biggest stars spoke out on Monday in an attempt to encourage SAG members to vote against authorizing the Screen Actors Guild strike.

More than 130 stars including George Clooney, Matt Damon, Tom Hanks, Morgan Freeman, Sally Field, Steve Carell, Alec Baldwin and Charlize Theron sent a letter to the Screen Actors Guild arguing that a strike at the current time would cause more economic hardship in an already difficult economy, Variety says.

The stars encouraged the guild to "take the high road," and rather than a strike unite with other Hollywood guilds after the current contracts expire in three years, the trade paper writes.

"We feel very strongly that SAG members should not vote to authorize a strike at this time," the stars say in the letter. "We don't think that an authorization can be looked at as merely a bargaining tool. It must be looked at as what it is - an agreement to strike if negotiations fail."

Variety reports that the letter in opposition to the strike was sent three days after SAG announced 31 celebrities in support of authorization including, Mel Gibson, Ed Harris, and Martin Sheen.

The strike authorization vote is scheduled to be sent out to the guild's 110,000 members January 2. In order for a strike 75% of voters would have to vote in favor of authorization but the final word is in the hands of the union's national board.

Madonna settles divorce for $76M

Madonna's spokeswoman says the singer has settled with ex-husband Guy Ritchie for at least 50 million pounds ($76 million).

Liz Rosenberg told The Associated Press on Monday that Madonna has given Ritchie between 50 and 60 million pounds ($76 million to $92 million) as part of their divorce agreement.

She says the figure includes the value of the couple's country home Ashcombe in western England.

She adds that while the financial component of the settlement has been worked out, custodial arrangements for the couple's children have yet to be finalized.

"I'd assume it's one of the largest payouts ever in a divorce settlement," Rosenberg said.

Famous Ghosts

After having lived in the limelight with attention from the press and fans, some of our nation's famous and infamous celebrities are seemingly just not ready to move on. So, if you never had the opportunity to meet them in real life, according to these tales you might still be able to catch a glimpse of them as they continue to haunt the places of their pasts.

Lucille Ball – When Lucille Ball died during surgery on April 26, 1989, at the age of 77, she was still living in her home at 100 North Roxbury Drive. Since her death, she is said to remain in the home that experiences a number of strange happenings. New owners tell of unexplained broken windows, loud voices being heard from an empty attic, and furniture and other objects moving around inside the house.

Bonnie and Clyde – This pair of notorious outlaws of the 1930’s were finally tracked down and killed on May 23, 1934 outside of Arcadia, Louisiana. There bullet-ridden car was then towed into town with their bodies still in the vehicle. Today, a marker stands at the site where they died and is said to be haunted by the pair. Photographs taken of the marker often come out with ghostly forms.

Aaron Burr – Burr was the third Vice President under Thomas Jefferson, but he is not known so much for that as he is for duel with Alexander Hamilton. After killing Hamilton in the duel, Burr was placed on trial for treason but was acquitted. Today, Burr is said to haunt the One If By Land, Two If By Sea Restaurant, in New York City. Located in what was once Burr’s carriage house at 17 Barrow Street. Both visitors and staff alike have observed dishes that fly of their own accord and have had chairs pulled out from under them by unseen hands. Also said to haunt the restaurant is Burr’s daughter, Theodosia Burr Alston, who vanished off the coast of North Carolina en route to visit her father in New York.

Al Capone – The notorious Chicago gangster who led the city's illegal activities during the Prohibition era has been rumored to haunt a couple of locations. Allegedly, when people are disrespectful while visiting his family plot at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois, he is said to appear. Also, at Alcatraz, where Capone was one of the first inmates, spectral banjo music has often been heard coming from inside his old cell.

Lon Chaney, Sr. – Remembered primarily as the pioneer actor of horror films during the silent film era, Chaney died in 1930. Today, his spirit is said to haunt Sound Stage 28 at Universal Studios. This stage was used for the film Phantom of the Opera, and Chaney’s caped spirit has been seen running along the catwalks above the stage. Other phenomena reported to occur here include lights that turn on and off and doors that open and close by themselves.

Montgomery Clift – A popular film star of the 1950’s and 60’s, Montgomery Clift was a four-time Oscar nominated actor who is best known for his roles in A Place in the Sun, From Here to Eternity and Judgment at Nuremberg. His spirit has been seen at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, most often in Room 928. It was here that he spent a three months in 1953 where he was known to pace back and forth, memorizing his lines for From Here to Eternity. Today, unexplained loud noises are often heard coming from the otherwise empty suite, phone is continually found to be off the hook, and unexplainable cold spots are felt in the room. Others sense the actor’s presence and reportedly, one guest felt an invisible hand patting her shoulder.

Joan Crawford – From silent star to camp queen, Joan Crawford’s film career spanned some 45 years. Her former home, the Crawford House, is said to be haunted by her spirit as well as many others. Though the house has been exorcised many times, these ghosts refuse to leave.

James Dean – While no actual reports have been made of Dean’s spirit, an extremely interesting legend persists of a curse on his beloved Porsche Spyder. Dean, the popular fresh faced Hollywood star of the early 1950’s, was known to live in the “fast-lane.” He paid for it with his life when he was killed in a head on collision on September 30, 1955. Dean purchased the car with the intent to race it; however, he never got the chance, as just weeks after its purchase, he died in the vehicle. Afterwards, anyone who came in contact with the car or its parts began to suffer injuries and death until the vehicle finally mysteriously disappeared.

Redd Foxx – The popular star of the long running “Sanford & Son” television series has been known to haunt Stage 31 at Paramount Studios where he died of a heart attack. At the studio people have heard him laughing at the jokes and claim he just kind of hangs around. More often, the comedian is known to haunt his former home in Las Vegas. After a terrible battle with the IRS, he lost the home when the IRS forced the sale. The new owner reportedly saw Foxx’s apparition walking around in a bathrobe. Other strange occurrences included lights that turned on and off by themselves and a sliding glass door constantly opening of its own accord. Today the building houses offices for Nevada Aqua Air Systems. Continuing to have trouble with the sliding door, they finally replaced it with a wooden swinging door. However, this didn’t stop the door from opening with invisible hands.

Benjamin Franklin – Instrumental in laying the government’s foundation when the United States was first established, Franklin was also known for his work as a writer, inventor, philosopher, and scientist. Today, Franklin is said to haunt the Philosophical Society’s library in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Some people have even reported that the Philosophical Society's statue of Franklin has been seen dancing along the streets.

Luke Skywalker light saber auctioned for $240,000

Luke Skywalker's light saber has been on Star Wars fans' Christmas lists for more than 30 years.

On Thursday, one fan spent $240,000 to get the real thing: the prop that Mark Hamill used in the first two movies in the original "Star Wars" trilogy.

The light saber highlighted several Hollywood memorabilia sold at an auction in Los Angeles by Profiles in History. The auction house said it sold about $3.5 million in memorabilia.

The droid helmet worn by Anthony Daniels to play C-3PO sold for $120,000, and the costume Marlon Brando wore in the "Superman" movie went for $72,000.

The first British edition of "You Only Live Twice" inscribed by Ian Fleming sold for $84,000. Roald Dahl's handwritten screenplay for the film of the same title sold for $96,000.

Which only proves to me, people will pay big money for just about anything (is the economy really as bad as they say?)

For now, Nolan and Batman will rest in 'Dark' glory

USA TODAY reports: Since he took over the Batman franchise in 2005, Christopher Nolan has produced two No. 1 movies, generated $1.4 billion in worldwide ticket sales and created the second-highest-grossing film of all time in The Dark Knight.
So what's stopping him from making a third installment?

For starters, most third acts in Hollywood stink. Look at the disappointing threequels for The Godfather, Superman and the original Batman. The conclusions weren't much better for the more recent Shrek, Spider-Man and Pirates of the Caribbean

"I don't know why they're hard to do," Nolan says. "Maybe there's so much expectation to them. But I wouldn't want to do one if it weren't going to be as good as the first or second. That's not respectful to the fans."

Nolan says he is jotting notes and doing some rough outlines for a third story, but he hasn't yet found anything he's willing to commit to film, despite Warner Bros.' eagerness to get a new film underway.

"It was obvious when the box office was so big ($530 million domestically) that we had underestimated how ready fans were to reboot the franchise," he says. "The worst thing you could do now that you've gotten the plane back in the air is mess up the landing."

OJ Simpson Faces Prison

In the harsh light of the morning after his sentencing, O.J. Simpson's future was clear Saturday. His new home will be a prison cell in the Nevada desert with his door to freedom hinging on an appeal of a trial that his lawyers say was filled with errors.

"This is not a frivolous appeal," Yale Galanter, Simpson's lawyer, said. "There were some grave errors made by Judge (Jackie) Glass, and we think they are strong enough to overturn the conviction. We also think we have a shot at bail."

Galanter has cited six initial issues for appeal. The most significant concern could be the exclusion of blacks from the jury selection. The defense also will protest the judge allowing comments about Simpson's 1994 Los Angeles murder case in which he was acquitted of killing his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman.

'My Three Sons' actress Beverly Garland dies at 82

Beverly Garland, the B-movie actress who starred in 1950s' cult hits like "Swamp Women" and "Not of This Earth" and who went on to play Fred MacMurray's TV wife on "My Three Sons," has died. She was 82.

Garland died Friday at her Hollywood Hills home after a lengthy illness, her son-in-law Packy Smith told the Los Angeles Times.

Garland made her film debut in the 1950 noir classic "D.O.A.," launching a 50-year career that included 40 movies and dozens of television shows.

She gained cult status for playing gutsy women in low-budget exploitation films such as "The Alligator People" and a number of Roger Corman movies including "Gunslinger," "It Conquered the World" and "Naked Paradise."

"I never considered myself very much of a passive kind of actress," she said in a 1985 interview with Fangoria magazine. "I was never very comfortable in love scenes, never comfortable playing a sweet, lovable lady."

Garland showed her comedic chops as Bing Crosby's wife in the short-lived sitcom "The Bing Crosby Show" in the mid-'60s.

She went on to be cast in "My Three Sons" as the second wife of MacMurray's widower Steve Douglas during the last three seasons of the popular series that aired from 1960 to 1972.

Her television credits also include "Remington Steele," "Scarecrow and Mrs. King," "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman" and "7th Heaven."

Garland was born Beverly Fessenden in Santa Cruz, Calif., in 1926, and grew up in Glendale. She became Beverly Garland when she married actor Richard Garland. They were divorced in 1953 after less than four years of marriage.

In 1960, she married real estate developer Fillmore Crank, and the couple built a mission-style hotel in North Hollywood, now called Beverly Garland's Holiday Inn. Garland, whose husband died in 1999, remained involved in running the North Hollywood hotel.

She was the honorary mayor of North Hollywood and served on the boards of the California Tourism Corp. and the Greater Los Angeles Visitors and Convention Bureau.

Former Prosecutor Marcia Clark Reacts to O.J. Simpson Sentence

Marcia Clark, the face of the prosecution in O.J. Simpson's mid-'90s murder trial, spoke to ET about in the Las Vegas armed robbery case.

"Simpson got the sentence that anyone else would have received for this crime. Nothing more, nothing less. And that is justice. At last," Marcia told ET.

The former football star was sentenced to up to 33 years in jail Friday. With parole factored in, he could be incarcerated for at least nine years.

Ooops! Congresswoman hangs up on Obama

When a man sounding remarkably like President-elect Barack Obama called a Florida congresswoman Wednesday, she assumed it was a crank call.

So Republican Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen hung up. But, the Miami Herald reports, this was no prank.

"I thought it was one of the radio stations in South Florida playing an incredible, elaborate, terrific prank on me," Ros-Lehtinen told the newspaper. "They got Fidel Castro to go along. They've gotten Hugo Chavez and others to fall for their tricks. I said, 'Oh, no, I won't be punked.'"

The call came about 1 p.m. Obama congratulated her on her re-election, saying he was looking forward to working with her as the ranking Republican member of the House Foreign Affairs committee, Ros-Lehtinen told the newspaper.

The conversation lasted about a minute when she cut Obama off, telling him she wasn't falling for the hoax and that he was a better impersonator than the guy on Saturday Night Live, she said.

Former football star O.J. Simpson has been sentenced to prison for a botched attempt to recover sports mementos and personal items from two collectibles peddlers.

He will be eligibile for parole in six years.

"You can't take back your own property by force," said Clark County District Court Judge Jackie Glass. "This is not behavior we can say this is OK, don't worry."

"You went to the room, you took guns, you used force, you took property, whether it was yours or someone else's, and in this state that amounts to armed robbery," Glass said.

Minutes before his sentence, Simpson apologized to the judge and said he didn’t mean to steal from anybody when he tried to retrieve memorabilia.

Simpson made his statement in a soft voice that was somewhat hoarse.

He appeared ready to break down in tears as he told Clark County District Court Judge Jackie Glass that he was “sorry and confused” before going into a rambling, 5-minute declaration.

"I didn’t want to steal anything from anyone ... I’m sorry, sorry," he said.

Glass also ruled before sentencing that Simpson cannot be freed on bail pending possible appeal.

In earlier proceedings, neither Simpson, who was acquitted of the 1994 slayings of his ex-wife and her friend in Los Angeles, nor his co-defendant and former golfing buddy, Clarence "C.J. Stewart, testified at trial. They were convicted Oct. 3 of 12 criminal charges, including kidnapping and armed robbery, and face mandatory prison time — a minimum of six years and up to life

Ancient insect imprint found in Massachusetts

U.S. researchers say they have discovered what appears to be the oldest imprint of a prehistoric insect, made while the dragonfly-like creature was still alive.

The imprint found at a rocky outcrop near a large shopping center in North Attleboro, Massachusetts, is believed to have been made by an insect about three inches long as it stood on mud some 312 million years ago.

The imprint of the insect shows the thorax and abdomen, along with six legs, two of which may have moved slightly to create drag marks that hardened into burgundy-colored stone.

This is such an embarassment ot the USA

Washington state's Gov. Gregoire Allowed a sign to be displayed next to a Nativity Scene at the courthouse there.

"At this season of THE WINTER SOLSTICE
may reason prevail
There are no gods,
no devils, no angels,
no heaven or hell.
There is only our natural world
Religion is but a myth and superstition
that hardens hearts
and enslaves minds"

What do you guys think? Freedom of Speech or no?

Here is her number if it bothers you. (306) 902-4111

I'll be calling her, as I hope you will too. This NATIONAL Holiday is to honor the birth of JESUS CHRIST. If the athiests dont like it, then they shouldn't celebrate it and work that day as they normally would. (and we all know that's not going to happen)

KISS my .......

Well, this one is where i will be venting, and since no one likes to stand by and listen to me vent then i will just put it to written word.

Let's talk about the "The Rock N Roll" Hall of Fame and lets take it point by point.

First, what is the definition of Rock N Roll?

Rock and roll (also known as rock ’n’ roll) is a form of music that evolved in the United States in the late 1940s and early 1950s, with roots mainly in blues, country, rhythm and blues, folk and gospel music, and quickly spread to the rest of the world.

Ok, now in that definition do you see the words "Rap" or "Pop"? I don't! So then would someone explain to me why Micheal Jackson and a slew of Rap "artists" are in the R-n-R Hall of Fame, and yet a true pioneering band ,KISS, has been overlooked year after year after year.

Ok, so KISS isn't the finest group of musicians or even the best of people, but they have influenced millions of up and coming musicians. Just ask a rock guitarist his influences and i bet 7 out of the ten you ask will mention Ace Frehley! Ask a real rock fan the best concert they ever saw and i guarantee you will hear the name KISS!

So in my mind, that museum that stands in Cleveland Ohio calling itself the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame is just that, nothing more then a museum.

Long Live Rock N Roll!!!
