Watching two shows today and they both star Carroll O'Conner. They are of course "All in the Family" and "In the Heat of the Night".Now if you had ever watched O'Conner portraying the bigot Archie Bunker then you would think, ok, this guy is typecast and will never again play anything but Archie. But give "In the Heat of the Night" a try, in this show he plays a southern cop in Sparta Mississippi.
A chief of police, that at first was sort of a racist, but then gets a change of attitude late in life, even so far as to fall in love with a black council woman. Anyway I am getting away from my point. I can watch both of these shows in the same day, and cannot see even a glimpse of Archie Bunker in Chief Bill Gillispie or visa versa.
Carroll O'Conner is no longer with us, but I count him among the top actors of all time. Check these shows out and you'll agree, I have no doubt in my mind.
